Subsidy Schemes

The following two tables give an overview of charactaristics of subsidy schemes for biogas (CHP) and biomethan injection into the natural gas grid for a number of European Countries. The data were collected by Fraunhofer Umsicht for the GreenGasGrids project.

According to the data above there is a broad range of different support schemes in Europe. Usually there are Feed-in tariffs (FIT) with different bonus and requirements. FIT are given for biomethane and for CHP (electricity). Requirements are often connected with heat use, substrates, efficiency or methane losses. In some countries also support schemes like tax expeptions, investment subsidies or priority grid access are common.
