The Distribution Network Operator is obliged to determine and publish Technical conditions of the Distribution Network Operator (""Technical conditions“) in accordance with Art. 19 (1) of the Act No. 251/2012 Coll. on Energy and on the change and completion of laws in the interest of provision of non-discriminatory, transparent and safe access, connection and operation of the distribution network. The details on the scope of Technical conditions are stipulated by the Decree of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic No. 337/2005 Coll.

The Technical Conditions of SPP - distribúcia, a.s. as the Distribution Network Operator stipulate among others conditions of access and connection to our distribution network, distribution network operating rules, conditions of securing operational safety and reliability of distribution network, conditions of technical cooperation, collaboration with other networks operators and conditions of distribution network administration. Requirements for gas quality

Requirements for gas quality of natural gas are specified in the Gas technical directive no. TPP 902 01 published in 2006.  Requirements for gas quality of natural gas which is distributed in distribution network are specified in the Technical conditions of the company SPP – distribúcia, a.s.  Requirements for gas quality of biomethan are specified in the article 3.6 of Technical conditions of the company SPP – distribúcia, a.s.  and will be specifying in the n the Gas technical directive no. TPP 983 01.

Grid access restrictions

The biomethane plant can be connected to the distribution network only at the site with high-pressure pipeline. Delivered biomethane to the distribution network must meet the quality parameters in accordance with Technical conditions of SPP – distribucia.

The barrier for biomethane injection into the gas grid in Slovakia is high costs of biomethane production which are not cover with regulate price. Another serious barrier is that biomethane can be injected only into high-pressure distribution system. The other barriers are insufficient support from the government, legal framework and  logistics
