Grid connection

Cases for refusal of grid access

A biomethane connection cannot be refused. However, there is no capacity obligation on the grid owner and hence if there is not enough capacity in effect there is no access.

System usage fees (non-discrimination?)

At -present there are no ongoing charges to inject gas to the grid. However, there is proposed to be a rebate to shippers of biomethane to reflect the fact that they only use part of the system.

Connection cost burden sharing

All costs associated with a biomethane connection are funded 100% by the biomethane producer. The connection pipeline can be procured in the competitive market and is 'adopted' by the grid owner.

Network extension

This is same as connection.
